Civil construction during the pandemic – Covid-19

Abstract

Civil construction negotiations during the pandemic are different from other sectors. The civil construction industry has a series of particularities that need to be observed, including: the high growth of construction sites, low levels of contamination by Covid- 19, change in the nature of the service according to the new virus prevention protocols . The civil construction sector is responsible for the generation of thousands of jobs and has a significant share in the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The main regulatory standards that need to be respected by civil construction professionals are those established by the Consolidation of Labor Laws. As a result, existing standards facilitate the adaptation of virus mitigation measures at construction sites. Among them, the 06 (six) most relevant in terms of safety and health at work, respectively, are: NR 4; NR 5; NR 6; NR 7 and NR 9 and NR 18. Today with the new coronavirus pandemic, many companies had to adapt to new virus prevention measures, reformulating their occupational health and safety management, according to laws and decrees of the Ministry of Economy, Health and Work. New virus prevention controls, such as social distancing, hand hygiene and use of PPE (Personal protective equipment) in addition to government authorities, should also be supervised by the person in charge of the work, usually by professionals or employer, and should gradually be updated according to new features of possible mutations of the virus in order to mitigate its contagion.
