Abstract

This work aims to review the relationship between osseointegration of dental implants in decompensated diabetic pactients and their effects on boné formation and healing. Implants have been one of the most common procedures in the daily routine of dentistry offices and, for this reason, complications are frequent during the surgery process and, therefore, it is essential that the dental professional act to prevent these possible complications, acting in accordance with the appropriate standards. Based on the osseointegration of the implant because it can be considered a success of this treatment, which allows the patient to use the device as a natural tooth, because the titanium needle is incorporated into the bone in a natural way due to its biocompatibility. And as the term itself indicates, osseointegration refers to the integration between the bone (mandible or maxilla) and the titanium surface in a stable and functional way. This phenomenon has been defined since the 1940s and 1950.
