Caries disease, as well as other oral health problems, are influenced by several factors, many of them can be modified to prevent oral health through prevention guidelines. The school is a privileged environment for health promotion and disease prevention practices for children, as it brings comfort. The purpose of this narrative-type literature review was to investigate the various articles that analyzed the impact of oral health guidelines in schools to improve oral health in children. When conducting teacher training, involving parents and providing access to oral health services we have a positive effect on oral health. In addition to guidelines for effective brushing, practices at home should also be guided, including improving the quality of life related to oral health. However, it is not enough for children to absorb information, they need examples. In most studies, we could observe that despite not having a defined method, when we have a good professional’s preparation, parents and teachers involvement, the impact of these actions becomes extremely relevant for the improvement of children's oral health.
