Abstract

Cancer is a disease that causes disordered cell multiplication and represents one of the main public health problems worldwide, leading to the death of millions of people. Breast cancer can affect both men and women. The types of cancer that most frequently cause bone metastases are breast, prostate, lung, thyroid and kidney, due to the high prevalence of these diseases in the population and the affinity of cancer cells with bone cells. It aims to highlight the importance of scintigraphy in the detection of metastases, since early diagnosis is essential to save lives. In addition, it is a safe method, which uses a low radiation dose. This article made use of the virtual environment with the support of scientific books and academic journal. Currently, scintigraphy continues to be extremely important for a quick and accurate diagnosis, and it is possible to perform it through the SUS. It is necessary to highlight the importance of women continuing to go to the doctor and undergo annual exams after cancer treatment to search for early metastases and with a chance of treatment. It is interesting for future works to make comparisons between the types of diagnostic imaging, with data evaluating the amount of radiation dose between them, with the risks and benefits for the patient, focusing on metastases that are difficult to discover, always thinking about the quality of the diagnosis and well -being of the patient.
