Abstract

Purpose: quality of life is a factor to be considered in the process of comprehensive assessment of health. Lung diseases that progress with chronic airflow limitation can affect, in some way, the quality of life of their patients. The purpose of the study is assessing this impact, since this is essential for the professional team to make decisions in planning care and interventions. Methodology: for the execution of this study, validated questionnaires were delivered and collected at Centro de Atenção Especializada, in Cascavel/PR, with the objective of qualifying the impacts that chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases have on the quality of life of patients previously diagnosed with Asthma and/or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Results: lung diseases affected the quality of life of people with lung disease that participated in this research. We concluded that what contributed most to these negative effects was tiredness and poor quality of sleep, also, they believe they do not enjoy their life to the fullest because of the lung disease. Conclusion: lung diseases do affect the well-being of Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, and Overlap Syndrome between Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. This leads to possible negative psychological effects and poor performance on their daily activities.
