Abstract

The Vitaceae family consists of about 15 genera and 850 species. It occurs in both temperate and tropical regions. Being known for having the genus introduced and cultivated in Brazil for the production of wine, juices, and fruits, we can mention the species V. Vinifera L. in these uses. Vitis vinifera, our object of study, commonly known as grape, is used in popular medicine in different diseases such as cardiovascular, has antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and anticarcinogenic action, and also presents pharmacological activity in its gastroprotective capacity (leaves). The following study aims to recognize the phytochemical classes and biological activities described for Vitis vinifera in the last 5 years. The research was carried out in the PubMed and Scielo databases. Using as descriptors: Viti's vinifera pharmacological brazil, Viti's vinifera extract brazil, and Viti's vinifera fruits brazil. For the inclusion criteria, the following filters were used: articles in English and Portuguese, free of charge, publications made between the years 2017 and 2022, and research involving the phytochemical study and biological activity of Vitis vinifera exclusively. A total of 480 articles were found, with 04 articles published between 2017 and 2021 remaining selected after critical reading of the abstracts given the previously established criteria. In the articles analyzed, the classes of phytochemicals present and the biological activities were clear, showing their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antimicrobial activities. A return is speculated through the scientific bases that show the existence of proven pharmacological activities for the species Vitis vinifera.
