Abstract

The disease COVID-19 is caused by a family of viruses called coronavirus. The most frequent clinical manifestations of the disease include fatigue, fever, headache, myalgia, cough and diarrhea. In addition, some patients develop Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome. Infection-related skin lesions are also described. Therefore, it is a disease that causes manifestations in multiple organs and systems, including the skin. The cutaneous manifestations of COVID-19 are not yet known in their entirety, but the number of case reports on tegumentary involvement in the disease is increasing. The objective of this research was to carry out a systematic review of the dermatological manifestations caused by the COVID-19 infection. Systematic literature review in MEDLINE/PUBMED, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) was performed. Considering the inclusion and exclusion criteria, a systematic review of the dermatological manifestations caused by the COVID-19 infection was identified. According to the selected studies, there was significance in the results regarding 23 articles indexed in PUBMED and no articles in LILACS or Scielo. There is a high prevalence of dermatological lesions in patients with COVID-19. Furthermore, the changes observed are extremely important, as findings such as rash, urticaria and erythematous lesions may play a role in the early diagnosis of asymptomatic patients, even if their etiology is uncertain.
