Abstract

The university courses, which aim to prepare professionals for support and health care, have the most psychologically depressed students. Research shows that Burnout Syndrome (BS) may have its origins in the undergraduate period, probably due to the lack of awareness and intercession of student institutions and health authorities. Therefore, understanding the situation is fundamental to address new attempts to reduce the incidence in students. Objective: The present study seeks to present a comparison between the literature and the data collected among students of the Superior Course of Technology in Radiology and to present the problem around the BS, evolving the ways of understanding and raising awareness, with the purpose of improving the daily lives of students and professionals. Methodology: This work is an observational, descriptive-analytical study, cross-sectional design, and quantitative perspective, using literature review and research presented to participants through an electronic form. The project was structured based on the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI-General Survey) and the Maslach Burnout Inventory – Student Survey (MBI-SS). Results: After analyzing the data, it was noticed that students have predictors of factors related to BS. Conclusion: It is necessary to identify this condition early to limit the progression to the development of depression and the like. Simple attitudes such as the implementation of prevention programs serve as great support for students, bearing in mind the preparation of professionals for the job market with preserved mental health.
