Henoch-Schönlein purpura (HSP) is a disease characterized by systemic inflammation of small vessels, mediated by IgA. The classic tetrad is composed of non-thrombocytopenic palpable purpura, arthritis, abdominal pain, and glomerulitis with hematuria. The disease is triggered by numerous viral and bacterial infections and is usually self-limiting. However, there are cases in which HSP affects multiple organs and, through predisposing factors, becomes recurrent and severe. Therefore, the aim of the study is to analyze the incidence and predisposing factors for recurrence of Henoch-Schönlein purpura in pediatric patients. This is an integrative literature review, which used the PubMed (Medline), Scientific Electronic Library On-line (SciELO) and Cochrane Library platforms as databases for the selection of scientific articles, all in English, with a temporal cut of 2017 to 2022. According to the literature analyzed, it is concluded that the average annual incidence of Henoch-Schönlein Purpura in pediatric patients is 9 per 100,000 inhabitants, which varies according to the location. In addition, the main risk factors for the recurrence of the pathology are HSP with renal involvement, patients on corticosteroid therapy, in addition to allergopathies, such as allergic rhinitis and atopic dermatitis.
