Abstract

Introduction: Dental caries is an oral disease of multifactorial etiology. It is considered the most prevalent chronic oral disease which leads to tooth loss. The term hidden caries is used to describe dentin caries lesions that are not clinically diagnosed. Objective: to present a case report over the technique the occlusal index (stamp), as well as the restorative technique in posterior teeth. Case Report: After the proper rubber dam isolation, a dental impression of the occlusal tooth was performed with a light cured gingival barrier. It was followed to the access to the cavity and removal of the contaminated tissue with diamond round bur in a high-speed with water irrigation and carbide bur. Then the tooth received the restorative treatment with glass ionomer cement, bulk flow resin and regular bulk resin. A gentle pressure was applied with the occlusal stamp on the occlusal surface of the tooth. Discussion: The technique is effective in terms of copying the occlusal surface, both in aesthetics and function, besides being easy and fast to perform. Conclusion: This technique minimizes the operative time, presenting an optimal esthetics and function without altering the patient’s occlusion.
