Abstract

This literature review aimed to determine the body changes that occur during the menstrual cycle and its relationship with the eating behaviour of women in childbearing age, being analyzed 15 articles. The resaerch was carried out through Scielo, PubMed, Lilacs and Redalyc databases, in Portuguese, English and Spanish, published between the years 2012 and 2022. It was observed that there are significant changes in the eating behaviour and in the body composition of women in the luteal phase, resulting from hormonal changes present in this period, mainly the increase in progesterone levels. With this review, it was possible to conclude that the main physical change observed was the increase in water retention, being presented in most women. Through the analysis of the articles used, it was possible to verify the importance of nutritional monitoring as tool to alleviate this symptom, contributing to improve the quality of life of these women.
