Objectives: to identify the evidence available in the literature on the oral condition and quality of life related to oral health of patients with an indication for liver transplantation. Methods: this is an integrative literature review. Searches were performed using the AND and OR descriptors and Boolean operators, in the PUBMED AND VHL (Virtual Health Library) database, in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Results: of the 191 articles found in PUBMED and 157 in the VHL, 19 were selected for the construction of the review. Of these, 12 were cross-sectional, 4 were longitudinal, 2 were retrospective and 1 was a pilot study. The articles showed that oral hygiene was compromised, the average DMFT index was high and there was a higher prevalence, extension and severity of periodontitis. The existence of oral problems was related to pain and discomfort, psychological, appearance and esthetic impairment and thus influenced the quality of life. Conclusion: most articles revealed that the oral health of cirrhotic patients on the transplant waiting list is not satisfactory and that OHRQol is compromised. They recommend interprofessional collaboration as a preoperative routine to improve oral health and the OHRQol of liver transplant candidates.
