Root fractures occur in anterior teeth of young people in upper incisors and, thanks to their location, they are targets of accidents and other types of trauma, with children and adolescents being the most affected. The purpose of this investigation is to review the last 7 years of horizontal root fractures in terms of diagnosis, proposed therapy, healing of fracture fragments, immobilization and radiographic techniques. They concluded that it is difficult to diagnose the pulp condition of traumatized teeth unless using Laser Doppler Flowmetry (LDF) combined with Pulse Oximeter (OXY) monitoring. As for medication, MTA, Triethanolamine, iRoot SP and Bio C Repair are indicated in the repair of the fragments; The healing of the fragments is due to the reestablishment of pulpal activity, as the vessels nourish the fragmented tissues, maintaining tissue vitality. The more in the apical, middle and subcrestal third the fracture is located, the better the prognosis; Stabilization of fractured fragments occurs with deposition of calcified tissue, connective tissue, connective tissue and bone and interposition of non-healing granulation tissue; Immobilization is associated with long-term hard tissue healing more often than short-term immobilization. Short-term immobilization resulted in healing of connective tissue/bone than long-term immobilization, with no difference in the frequency of non-healing between long-term and short-term immobilization protocols and functional immobilization time between 4-6 weeks suggests better healing. Computed tomography is more efficient than periapical radiography of horizontal root fractures.
